Referral fee
A referral fee, sometimes called a finder's fee is a payment made to a person or entity who facilitates a deal, that is links up a potential customer with a provider. Such fees act as incentives for facilitators or agents to act as a third party in setting up initial contact points, and can range from the purchase of buildings, as in effect estate agents, to builders and skilled professionals carrying out work for a client. The term is described in the RICS 'Residential retrofit standard: RICS Professional Standard UK', published as a 1st edition in March 2024, simply as 'An amount of money that is paid by one organisation to another for being recommended to a client or customer.'
